Although Holden sees a lot of faults in Luce, Holden doesn't want to see him go because he is very lonely. Holden enjoys having company and Luce seems to know a lot about sex which is a subject that interests Holden. Holden doesn't have much to do in New York and having someone to talk to, occupies him. Luce is very intellectual, which Holden likes.
